“The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock…” (1 Peter 5:1-3).
As referenced in the passage above, a shepherd is one of the word-pictures that describes an elder and pastor’s role in the local church. The pastor is to watch over the congregants of the church like a shepherd watches over the flock--leading them by providing for them and protecting them.

At Landmark Church we believe the Bible prescribes a leadership model of plurality of elders that are under the divine oversight of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus. These under-shepherds are charged by the Lord to make decisions concerning the overall direction, discipline, and doctrine of the church. We also believe that the Lord assigns the role of pastor through His direct calling on a man’s life, where the elders affirm this calling through that man’s message and ministry. To that end, we are humbled to announce the formal ordination of Terence Sikoryak to the office of pastor at Landmark Church.

After 14 years of attending and serving this local body, as well as 3 years as an advisor to the elders and a minister within the ministry, the elder board of Landmark has publicly affirmed the calling and gifting of Terence Sikoryak. Terence currently serves as the ministries Congregational Care Team lead, and he is also the leader of the ministry, This One Voice.

At this point in the appointment, we are open to feedback. If you see any reason that Terence does not meet the biblical requirements for pastor, as laid out in 1 Timothy and Titus, you will have a 2-week window where you can share this critical information. Please fill out the form located at the bottom of this page to submit your concern or feedback to the elder board. These concerns must be submitted by end of day on September 15th to the elder board for investigation and must be substantiated by credible sources and witnesses (1 Timothy 5:19).
We have biblically assessed and do believe that Terence Sikoryak is very well qualified, and we are eager to introduce him to the church in an official ordination service following this period of consideration, on Sunday September 24th, 2023.

On a personal note, we remain greatly humbled by the posture and passion of the church overall. The Lord has been gracious to us, and we must continue to faithfully steward what He has entrusted to us. Let us not forget the truth that “unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it…” (Psalm 127:1).

On behalf of the elders, thank you for your support and service to the Body of Christ.

By God’s Grace Alone,
Matthew Maher
